【摘要】:Glossisassociatedwiththecapacityofasurfacetoreflectmorelightindirectionsclosetothespecularthaninothers.Measurementsbythistestmethodcorrelatewithvisualobservationsofsurfaceshininessmadeatroughlythecorrespondingangles.Measuredglossratingsbythistestmethodareobtainedbycomparingthespecularreflectancefromthespecimentothatfromablackglassstandard.Sincespecularreflectancedependsalsoonthesurfacerefractiveindexofthespecimen,themeasuredglossratingschangeasthesurfacerefractiveindexchanges.Inobtainingthevisualglossratings,however,itiscustomarytocomparethespecularreflectancesoftwospecimenshavingsimilarsurfacerefractiveindices.Othervisualaspectsofsurfaceappearance,suchasdistinctnessofreflectedimages,reflectionhaze,andtexture,arefrequentlyinvolvedintheassessmentofgloss(1),(6),(7).TestMethodE430includestechniquesforthemeasurementofbothdistinctness-of-imageglossandreflectionhaze.TestMethodD4039providesanalternativeprocedureformeasuringreflectionhaze.Littleinformationabouttherelationofnumerical-to-perceptualintervalsofspecularglosshasbeenpublished.However,inmanyapplicationstheglossscalesofthistestmethodhaveprovidedinstrumentalscalingofcoatedspecimensthathaveagreedwellwithvisualscaling(10).Whenspecimensdifferingwidelyinperceivedglossorcolor,orboth,arecompared,nonlinearitymaybeencounteredintherelationshipbetweenvisualglossdifferenceratingsandinstrumentalglossreadingdifferences.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthemeasurementofthespecularglossofnonmetallicspecimensforglossmetergeometriesof60,20,and85x00B0;(1-7).1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
